About the Initiative

The goal of the Digital Campus Initiative is to establish a campus-wide test bed for mesh and sensor networking. This effort encompasses multiple research projects, including research on mesh networks in general (protocol design, cross-layer integration, QoS), novel technologies (WiMax, SDRs), and distributed wireless/mobile applications. The Digital Campus will serve as a test bed for numerous experiments on wireless networking and mobile computing. Another goal of the Digital Campus is to extend the idea and concepts of the Smart Homes to larger environments (such as a campus or even a city). This initiative is a collaboration among several faculty from the CSE and EE Departments of the University of Notre Dame.
