Determining the quality of a design, particularly the timing performance of systems
with stringent deadlines is a fundamental task in hardware/software codesign of
real-time embedded systems. We have derived new metrics and efficient methods for estimating timing behaviors
of real-time embedded systems under various scenarios. Our metrics can not only
gauge the capability of a system meeting its timing requirement but also predict the
behavior of the system under workload perturbation. We have also been studying
the performance estimation problem for different QoS models.
