Poellabauer and Striegel Receive Motorola Labs Grant

Professors Poellabauer and Striegel have received a Motorola Labs grant entitled "Mobile WiFi-based Content Sharing" for approximately $20k ($10k unrestricted gift, $10k equipment). The purpose of this grant will be to support research on the design of content-sharing applications and protocols for WiFi-equipped mobile handheld devices such as smartphones. These applications and protocols allow mobile users to share content such as images, video, songs, and other documents with other co-located users. Goals of the project include large field trials on the campus of Notre Dame (e.g., as part of the REU Site organized by Professors Poellabauer and Striegel), at Motorola Labs in Schaumburg, Illinois, and during a soccer game in a stadium in Mexico.
