2006 ACM Programming Contest Results

11/17/2006: The 2006 ACM-ICPC East Central North America Regional Programming Contest was held on Saturday, November 11, 2006. There were 116 teams drawn from 64 colleges and universities throughout western Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, eastern Ontario, and Indiana (excluding the Greater Chicago Metropolitan Area). The contest consisted of 8 problems with 91 teams solving at least one problem.
As it was difficult for some teams in the region to travel to a single site, the contest was held as a distributed contest. There were four contest sites: Ashland, Ohio, (45 teams); Cincinnati, Ohio, (25 teams); Dearborn, Michigan, (16 teams); and Oakville, Ontario, Canada (30 teams).
Our two teams were identified as “Irish Blue” and “Irish Gold”. “Irish Blue” team members are Jeff Smith-Senior, Dan Dugovic-Junior, and Chris Fallin-Freshman. The “Irish Blue” team finished 9th. “Irish Gold” team members are Nick Schott-Junior, Joey Schmitt-Freshman, and Eric Riedl-Freshman. The “Irish Gold” team finished 36th. Last year “Irish Gold” was 60th, so they showed enormous improvement this year and finished in the top one-third, with two freshmen!

Congratulations to Jeff, Dan, Chris, Nick, Joey, and Eric!
