The Department

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Notre Dame administers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs in computer science and in computer engineering. Seventeen full-time faculty members provide a comprehensive program that emphasizes the interactions between hardware and software, algorithms, quantum cellular automata, VLSI technology, and emerging technologies (with a focus on e-commerce). Part of the College of Engineering, the department recognizes the value of interaction between the different disciplines of engineering.

Faculty and students often collaborate on projects, working side by side with researchers from other colleges and departments across the campus, such as the College of Science and the Departments of Mathematics and Biology. In addition to the excellent faculty and quality research opportunities available through the department, there is a real sense of community and teamwork here. It brings together the best of two worlds - the tradition that is Notre Dame and that strives to meet the needs of mankind.
