The International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB 11)
is a special combination of two major biometrics research conference traditions, the
International Conference on Biometrics (ICB)
and the
Biometrics Theory, Application and Systems (BTAS) conference.
The blending of these two conferences for this one year is through special agreement
of the IEEE and IAPR, and should present quite an
exciting event for the entire worldwide biometrics research community.
IJCB 2011
is intended to have a broad scope that includes advances in fundamental pattern recognition techniques
relevant to biometrics, new algorithms and / or technologies for biometrics, analysis of specific applications, and analysis of the social impacts of biometrics technology. Areas of coverage include biometrics based on voice, fingerprint, iris, face, handwriting, gait and other modalities, as well as multi-modal biometrics and new biometrics based on novel sensing technologies. Submissions will be rigorously reviewed, and should clearly make the case for a documented improvement over the existing state of the art. Experimental results for contributions in established areas such as voice, face, iris, fingerprint, and gait are encouraged to use the largest and most challenging existing publicly available datasets.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to those listed below.
In addition, there are competitions on
signature verification,
2D face recognition spoofing,
fingerprint verification and other topics. For additional information on the
competitions, see the Competitions link on the left.

Papers that are accepted and presented at IJCB 11 will appear in IEEE Xplore and be included in the IEEE Biometrics Compendium. The IEEE Biometrics Compendium is IEEE's first "virtual journal", bringing together biometrics publications from throughout the IEEE Xplore digital library.
Conference location: IJCB 11 is being held at the Doubletree Hotel Crystal City, in the Washington DC area, convenient to numerous dining, shopping, and tourist attractions. Families should enjoy visiting Washington DC for tourism and sightseeing at this time of year. For information on reservations see the Accomodations linke on the left.
Sponsorship: IJCB 11 is sponsored by the International Association for Pattern Recognition, the IEEE Systems, Man & Cybernetics Society and the IEEE Biometrics Council, and by our corporate supporters listed below.
IAPR TC4 meeting: There will be a plenary meeting of IAPR TC4 on the evening of Tuesday, October 11, exact time and place to be listed in the conference program.
